Students from the ESM program ventured into Marin Headlands over the weekend, for a hike led by ESM Program Director Fred Wellington.
The trail started at the Rock Spring Trailhead in Mount Tamalpais State Park, and lasted approximately 4 hours which included a brief stop at the scenic Cataract Falls, and concluded with lunch at Mountain Theater overlooking San Francisco and the Golden Gate Strait.
Over lunch, Fred shared an interesting historical account and perspective on how the forested land in Marin Headlands came to be acquired by the National and State Park systems over a century ago, thereby being the first state in the United States to lead the way in environmental conservation.
We all look forward to the next hike(s) in Spring 2023!
