Meet Rehana Aziz ESM MS ’21
Rehana Azia from Gilgit, Pakistan is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Solar PV Technical professional with seven years of working experience. She has been involved in solar PV system designing, system installations, and product development. Her initiative ‘SHE in Energy’ promotes women in the male-dominated energy sector, and she is one of the first female solar installers in Pakistan. During her MS studies, she will explore currently available renewable energy micro-grid technologies around the globe, optimize them further as per the need, and set the foundation of various energy storage systems in remote parts of Pakistan with limited or no access to electricity.
Meet Govinda Hira ESM MS ’21
As assistant manager of business development at Engro Energy Limited, Govinda Hira is responsible for identifying and developing economically viable wind and solar projects, as well as commercially evaluating developing and under-construction power projects for potential equity injection or buyout. Govinda will be utilizing the platform provided through the energy program at USF to develop in-depth competencies, enhance technical concepts, and comprehend policy dynamics to better apply economic methods and reasoning to the ongoing energy transition. Govinda believes in providing affordable, reliable and sustainable electrons to the customer.
Meet Taiba Jafari ’21
“Energy enlightens both houses and minds,” says Taiba Jafari. “I want my people to have access to reliable and clean energy. I hope to work on efficient ways of meeting the energy demands in Afghanistan.” Taiba currently works at the World Bank.
